IL( 3o - 8"G <br /> COMMON COUNCIL STATEMENT <br /> ON DRUGS AND YOUTH <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of South Bend, Indiana <br /> is. concerned about*all youth and the prevalence of unlawful drug <br /> usage on the National, State, and Local levels; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of South Bend, Indiana <br /> is _concerned about the future of the youth of South Bend and the <br /> harmful effects of drug misuse; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council encourages any and all residents of <br /> the City of South Bend to fight against drug abuse among the <br /> youth in our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Common Council believes that the youth of South Bend <br /> will be better served by assuring that unlawful drugs will not <br /> be prevalent within the City of South Bend; and <br /> IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS : <br /> 1. That the Common Council for the City of South Bend is against <br /> any unlawful drug use by its residents and particularly its youth. <br /> 2. That the South Bend Common Council hereby encourages all <br /> residents to be concerned about educating our youth about the <br /> dangers of drug misuse. <br /> 3. That the South Bend Common Council commends and supports <br /> People United Against Drugs, which is an organization directing <br /> its attention to educating youth about the use and misuse of <br /> unlawful drugs, for sponsoring programs designed to further instruct <br /> youth against using unlawful drugs and encourage youth to stay <br /> away from unlawful drugs. <br /> THE UNDERSIGNED members of the South Bend Common Council agree with <br /> the statement above: <br /> 41/1: . or • <br /> i _Se , e ' g <br /> mes V.
