Resolution No. 1582 -87 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ FOR HER SEVEN <br />AND ONE -HALF (7 1/2) YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE TO <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, recognizes with pride that EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ <br />servd as fr me July Assistant City Attorney o <br />through the Ciy Of South Bend <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council further recognizes that <br />EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ was promoted to the position of Managing <br />Attorney for the City Attorney's Office on November 1, 1985; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ was appointed as the <br />first woman City Attorney for the City of South Bend on <br />March 31, 1986; and <br />WHEREAS, EUGENIA S. SCHWARTZ has provided professional <br />and competent legal advice to numerous City agencies, <br />including the Board of Public Safety, the Redevelopment <br />Commission, the Urban Enterprise Association, the Historic <br />Preservation Commission, the Department of Economic <br />Development, the Department of Administration and Finance, <br />and the Police and Fire Departments; has played instrumental <br />roles in the development of UDAG, TIF, and tax abatement <br />procedures; as well as overseeing critical lawsuits for the <br />City at the state and federal levels; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of-south Bend, Indiana will long <br />remember the countless contributions made to our community <br />by this dedicated and caring public servant, EUGENIA S. <br />SCHWARTZ. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby <br />publicly commends and thanks EUGENIA dS.SCHWARTZ <br />public service <br />seven and one-half (7 1/2) years <br />to the City of South Bend. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges <br />the many contributions made by Eugenia through her well <br />researched and practical legal opinions and advise; and <br />wishes her and Maurice and their two sons continued success <br />and good fortune in the years ahead. <br />SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force <br />and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council <br />and approval by the MaDyor� / <br />Attest: <br />Irene K.
