BILLHIMER <br />DATE: January 9, 2007 <br />On January 8, 2007, a petition for residential tax abatement consideration for real property located 5733 <br />Hawkins Court, South Bend, IN 46614 was filed with the City Clerk by Amy J. Billhimer. Pursuant to <br />Chapter 2, Article 6, Section 2-77.1 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, this petition was <br />referred to the Department of Community and Economic Development for purposes of investigation and <br />preparation of a report determining whether the area qualifies as a Residentially Distressed Area pursuant to <br />I.C.6-1.1-12.1 and whether all zoning requirements have been met. <br />The Department of Community and Economic Development has reviewed the petition (a copy of which is <br />attached), investigated the area, and makes the following report. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Garden Homes intends to construct a new, three bedroom, five-room home of 1,036 square feet on a full 8 <br />foot insulated basement. The home will have a 20 x 21 foot attached garage, vinyl siding, stove, <br />dishwasher, vent hood, and garbage disposal. The home will be built on a vacant lot that will be seeded <br />upon completion of the home. The cost of the home will be $95,620. The importance of this project to the <br />city and the residents of the city is the building of affordable homes on infill lots in the City of South Bend. <br />Total taxes to be abated during the (5) five-year abatement period is estimated at $5,904.
