PETITION FOR RESIDENTIAL TAX ABATEMENT CONSIDERATION
1. Describe the proposed construction project, including information about square
footage, numbers of rooms, amenities, the amount of land to be used, the proposed use of
improvements, and a general statement as to the importance of the project.
Proposed Construction:
The land at 920 and 922 St. Peter is approximately 66' x 122'. I intend to build a 2000
square foot, single family, owner-occupied home. The home will be 1.5 stories and will
be built in a bungalow style. The home will be my primary residence. General plans
include:
1St floor -living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, master bathroom,
bathroom, study, "mud" room
2na floor - 2 bedrooms and a bathroom
Basement -finished with recreation space
Garage -two-car and attached
Importance of the Proiect:
I currently live in the City of South Bend, and have been looking for an
opportunity to build a new house that is in the heart of the city and that maintains an older
home look and feel. I am delighted to be able to purchase the land at 920/922 St. Peter.
It is incredibly important to me to stay in the city and in a neighborhood where there is
economic, racial, ethnic and other diversity.
I am extremely excited about becoming part of the Northeast Neighborhood. I
intend to become involved in all aspects of this developing neighborhood. I believe that
the Northeast Neighborhood is going to be the cornerstone of the city, and will be a
model for other cities to emulate. I want to be a part of this tremendous effort.
Finally, I am excited to live on the edge of an area that I hope will do much to
unite the University of Notre Dame and the South Bend community. As a Notre Dame
employee and graduate, and a 10-year resident of South Bend (I was born and raised in
Valparaiso), I understand the importance of a stronger relationship between the two
entities and look forward to helping build that relationship.
5.
