ZONING & ANNEXATION AUGUST 10, 2015 3:50 PM
Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis, Valerie Schey (XAB), Henry Davis, Derek Dieter
Citizen Members Present: Ron Okoye
Other Council Present: Tim Scott, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Dr. David Varner, Karen White,
Gavin Ferlic
Others Present: Jack Smith, Chris Fielding, Bob Emery, Larry Magliozzi
Agenda: Bill No. 29 -15 Amend the SBMC Chapter 21
Planned Unit Development Districts
The Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to order to consider bill 29 -15 intended to amend the
City Code in terms of Planned Unit Developments.
All members were present with the exception of Valerie Schey who had been excused for a migraine.
Present as well was the newly appointed member Ron Okoye.
Oliver Davis called upon Larry Magliozzi, the Executive Director of the Area Plan Commission to make
the presentation.
With the help of a handout (attached) Larry explained that the intent of the bill was to simplify and
strengthen the language in the Planned Unit Development (PUD) section of the Zoning Code. He said
the bill would eliminate the need for special exceptions by more clearly delineating what was allowed by
the Code. Larry went on to say a PUD district encourages the imaginative use of open space, promotes
high standards in design and construction, and furthers the purposes of the Comprehensive Plan.
Brief Council questions followed. Henry Davis asked if this change affected labor's status at all. Larry
said not at all. Dr. Varner asked if the changes impacted further development of Eddy Commons. Larry
said it actually facilitates development.
On a motion by Derek Dieter seconded by Oliver Davis and supported by all the bill was forwarded
favorably.
the meeting at 4:04 PM
Zoning & /Annkxatio Committee
