inspected and approved by the City Sealer. <br />(h) TAF:PERING AWITH I!:ETER: PTO driver or operator of any taxicab <br />shall permit any person to ride thereon or therein without the <br />consent of the owner thereof when the flag is up or toward vertical <br />position and no person shall tamper with, break or mutilate any <br />taximeter with the intention of causing the same to register improper- <br />ly or incorrectly or inaccurately. <br />(i) Such taximeters shall be inspected once each month by the <br />City Sealer of the City of South Bend in regard to the regulations <br />herein set forth. <br />SECTION 13. RATES OF FARE: <br />No person, firm or corporation owning, operating or controlling <br />any motor vehicle used as a taxicab within the limits of the City of <br />South Bend shall charge less than the following rates to be determined <br />by the taximeter: <br />'�'or the first 1/2 mile or fraction thereof .15¢ <br />For each succeeding 1/2 mile thereafter .............. .05� <br />Nor more than the following rates to be determined by the taximeter: <br />For the first 1/2 mile or fraction thereof .......... .15� <br />For each succeeding mile thereafter ................. .20¢, <br />Provided, however, that a taxicab may be hired at a rate of $1.50 ber <br />hour when so hired before the trip is begun and provided further that <br />for each four minutes of waiting there may be made a charge of .10�. <br />;laiting time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in <br />motion beginning with the arrival at the place to which it has been <br />called, or the time consumed while standing at the direction of the p <br />passenger, but no charge shall be me <br />de for time lost for the in- <br />efficiency of the taxicab or its operator or time consumed by pre- <br />mature response to call. The above charges will be for one person <br />or more. <br />No taxicab shall be let or hired upon a meter basis when the <br />taximeter thereon is broken, out of order, or for any other reason <br />does not accurately register the fare. <br />No zone or flat rates shall be charged. <br />-8- <br />
