ORDINANCE NO. ~ 0 _` 3 ~ ~ 1 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARIES FOR THE <br />COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEARS <br />2000, 2001, 2002 AND 2003 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />Pursuant to Indiana Code §36-4-7-2, the City's legislative body is required to fix the annual <br />compensation of all elected officers. Such compensation may "not be changed in the year for which <br />it is fixed, nor may it be reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year." <br />The following Ordinance establishes the annual compensation for Common Council <br />Members for calendar years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />Section I. The members of the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, shall <br />be paid from the General Fund the following Annual Salary amounts for the following calendar <br />years: <br />2000: $15,226.00 <br />2001: $15,493.00 <br />2002: $15,764.00 <br />2003: $16,040.00 <br />Section II. This Ordinance must be published under Indiana Code §5-3-1, with the first <br />publication at least thirty (30) days before final passage by the legislative body. <br />Section III.
