ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING _WATER HEATERS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH MID, INDIANA: Section 1. That hereafter all water heaters burning gas or other combustible material installed shall be provided- with a vent pipe connected to a flue that has a positive up- draft which will remove dangerous products of combustion. Section 2. All such heaters shall be provided with a. controlling device to prevent explosion of range or domestic boilers and which will prevent a back flow of hot water through cold water supply pipes.and vents to be of a non - corrosive material. Section 3. Before any such heaters shall be installed, the person, fdrm or corporation making the installation shall procure from the Plumbing Inspector of said City a permit to make such installation and for such permit there shall be a charge of one ($$1.00) dollar for each separate heater. Pro- vided, however, that where the installation of such heater is included in a.total of four or more trap or vented fixtures, the regular fee of twenty -five cents (25 ,e) now charged for each such fixtures in addition to four shall also be charged for the additional installation of a heater. Section 4. Any violation of the provisions of this ordinance stall be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred (0100.00) dollars to which may be added imprisonment in the county jail for not more than thirty (30) days. Section 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and legal publication.
