ORDINANCE NO. .qQ <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE HJNDLING AND.SALE OF <br />MEAT, MEAT PRODUCTS, AND SEA FOOD AND PROVIDING <br />FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS THEREFOR. <br />SOUTH BEND: <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, <br />firm or corporation or the agent or employee of any of them, to <br />sell, offer for sale or bring into, or deliver in the city of <br />South Bend, Indiana, for the purpose of sale at retail, or pursu- <br />ant to any contract of sale at retail previously made, any fresh, <br />cured or uncured meat or meat products, as human food, unless such <br />person, firm or corporation or the agents or employee of any of <br />them shall comply with the regulations herein set forth. <br />Section 2. The walls and ceilings of all rooms in <br />which meat and meat products are stored for the purpose of sale or <br />in which they are sold or offered for sale shall be constructed in <br />such a manner so as'to prevent the entrance of flies and insects. <br />The roofs shall be kept in good repair and free from leaks. The <br />walls of any such rooms shall be well plastered, wainscoted or <br />ceiled with metal or lumber and shall be oil painted or kept well <br />lime washed, and all interior woodwoD* shall be kept well oiled or <br />painted with oil paints and be kept washed clean with soap and water. <br />The floors shall be kept free from defects such as holes or open <br />cracks and shall be kept clean from litter, sputum, rubbish and /or <br />accumulated dirt. All meat markets or other places where meat or <br />meat products are sold or distributed shall be kept clean, well <br />lighted and ventilated. The other rooms of the meat market shall <br />be kept clean and free from filth - collecting material and shall be <br />at all times in a sanitary condition. <br />-1- <br />
