CONSTRUCTTION CONTRACTOR DEFINED. Section 2. <br />Every person, firm, co- partnership, corporation, association <br />or other organization or any combination of any thereof, who <br />is engaged in or proposes to engage in the business of <br />accepting orders or contracts on cost plus basis, fixed fee, <br />stated sum, percentage or any combination thereof, or other <br />compensation other than wages, doing work on or in any build- <br />ing or structure requiring the use of paint, stone, brick, <br />mortar, cement, wood, structural steel or iron, sheet iron, <br />metallic piping, tin, lead, or any other building material, or <br />in doing any paving or curbing on sidewalks or streets, on <br />public or private property, using asphalt, brick, stone, cement <br />or wood or any combination thereof; or in excavation for foun- <br />dations or any other purpose; or in constructing sewers, septic <br />tanks, bridges, retaining walls and bulkheads of any and all <br />descriptions; or who is engaged in the business of building, <br />remodeling, repairing or roofing buildings or other structures <br />whether it be by day labor, contract, cost plus, fixed fee, <br />stated sum, percentage, or any combination thereof, or other <br />compensation other than wages; shall be deemed to be a con- <br />struction contractor within the meaning of this ordinance. <br />Provided that the term "contractor" shall not be deemed to in- <br />clude any one who merely furnishes materials or supplies without <br />fabricating the same into or consuming the same in the work of <br />such construction. <br />EXMTTIONS FROM OPERATION OF ORDIN"ANCE. Section 3. <br />This ordinance shall not apply to: <br />(a) Building or other construction by private owners <br />where the materials and supplies are furnished by the <br />-2- <br />
