-14- <br />part thereof, shall be of good quality and free from defects, <br />and all labor on installation shall be performed in a thorough <br />and workmanlike manner. <br />Section XLIV. Where available, every building shall <br />have an independent connection with the street sewer at <br />the point designated by the Plumbing Inspector, except as <br />is hereinafter provided in case of small residences having <br />not more than four fixtures. <br />A conductor, soil, waste or house sewer from one building <br />shall not be connected to a conductor, soil, waste or house <br />sewer from another building; except; <br />Where one building is in the rear of another, and a <br />sewer is not available for the rear building, the house <br />sewer from the front building may be extended to the rear <br />building and the whole be considered as one drain, but a <br />permit for such connection must be secured from the Plumbing <br />Inspector. <br />Section XLV. All piping shall be run as direct as <br />practicable and so arranged that it may be readily repaired, <br />but no part of a plumbing or drainage system shall be <br />needlessly exposed to damage. <br />Section XLVI. All horizontal piping shall.be run in <br />Practical alignment and at a uniform grade of one -half (2) <br />inch per foot when possible, but in no case shall the grade <br />be less than one - quarter (4) of an inch to one foot (1) for <br />soil or waste pipe and house drains suspended by iron hangers <br />upon piers or posts or wall ledges; and not less than one - <br />eighth (1/8) of an inch per foot for vent or ventilating <br />pipes, house sewers and underground drains. <br />Section XLVII. All drainage and plumbing pipes shall <br />be rigidly secured or properly supported to keep their <br />alignment and grade, and all changes of direction, either <br />horizontal or vertical, shall be made with the appropriate <br />use of "Ys ", half "ys ", sanitary "TYS", long sweep quarter, <br />
