-2- <br />among other things that the Colfax Bridge of the City of <br />South Bend showed signs of giving away and a serious danger <br />to the public welfare of South Bend existing said Board <br />made arrangements with Ralph Sollitt & Sons for the rental <br />of shoring material to brace the bridge until it could be <br />repaired and said indebtedness having to be incurred <br />C rr <br />immediately forean appropriation to be asks&, and the funds <br />having been exhausted in the proper account for said purpose <br />the members of this Council do expressly by this ordinance <br />approve the declaration of an emergency and the ordering of the <br />supplies from said Ralph Sollitt & Sons in the sum of One <br />Hundred Thirty -Six Dollars, ($136900), which was needed for <br />the proper maintenance of said bridge, and this Council <br />does further approve the action of said Board of Public <br />Works in August, 1936, in recognizing the emergency that <br />existed in the City Hall, when a heavy rain caused con- <br />siderable damage to the cornice and gutters on the City Hall <br />roof due to deterioration and rust, and which resulted in rain <br />pouring into the building, thus creating a serious emergency, <br />and this Council does approve and ratify the acts of said <br />Board in employing a plumber and a sheet metal worker, to- <br />wit: W. J. Braunsdorf & Son and J. C. Lauber at a total <br />expenditure of One Hundred Seventy -Five Dollars, ($175.00) <br />to repair said condition, there being insufficient time to <br />ask for appropriation for said work to be done and said <br />indebtedness being created strictly by an emergency. <br />SECTION IV - This ordinance shall be in full force and <br />effect from and after its passage, legalpublication, public <br />hearing, signature by the Mayor and approval by the State <br />
