Approving a Contract between Board of Public Works & Layne-Northern Co. Inc. for Drilling & Construction of Well at North Pumping Station

F l ORDINANCE N0. JM'I'oS, the Board of Public Works and Safety, acting as the Board of Water Works Trustees, for the South Bend Water Works, has deemed it necessary to construct a well at the North pumping station, for the furnishing of water for the South Bend Water Works, and WHEREAS, it has prepared and filed specifications, and has advertised and received bids for the construction of said well, and has entered into a contract with the Layne Northern Company, Incorporated, for the drilling and construction of said well, said Company being the lowest and best bidder; which contract calls for the drilling and con- struction of a thirty -eight inch (38 ") well at a site designated in Leeper Park near the present reservoir, for the sum of 07600.00, NOW, THKZEFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the Dity of South Bend, Indiana, Section 1, The contract entered into between the Board of Public Works and Safety, acting as the Board of Water Works Trustees, and Layne - Northern Company, Inc, on the 3rd day of July, 1939, which contract provides for the construction, drilling of a thirty -eight inch well at the North pumping station in Leeper Park in the city of South Bend, by the Layne - Northern Company, Inc. for the sum of $7600.00, to be paid by the South Bend Water Works in accordance with the provisions of said contract, a copy of which is attached to this ordinance, be and the same hereby is in all things confirmed, ratified and approved by the Common Council of the city of South Bend, Indiana.
