lot & 2nd READING 1114 )/o <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE /34/� t? <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />3rd READING <br />NOT APPROVED <br />REFERRED <br />PASSED /a /fZ /3 tY' <br />ORDINANCE NO. .�Je SO _0Y <br />01 <br />WBEREAS, the Board of Public Works acting as the Board of Water <br />Works Trustees for the South Bend Water Works has deemed it necessary to <br />construct two additional wells at the North Pumping Station for the furnish- <br />ing of water for the South Bend Water Works, and <br />WHEREAS, it has prepared and filed specifications and has <br />advertised and received bids for the construction of said wells, and has <br />entered into a contract with Layne Northern Company, Inc. for the drilling <br />and construction of said wells, said Company being the lowest and best <br />bidder, which contract calls for the drilling and construction of two <br />thirty -eight inch wells at sites designated in Leeper Park near the present <br />reservoir, for the sum of $6400.00 for each well, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />Section 1. That the contract entered into between the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety, acting as the Board of Water Works Trustees, and <br />Layne- Northern Company, Inc., on the 13th day of November, 1939, which contract <br />provides for the construction and drilling of two thirty -eight inch wells at <br />the North Pumping Station in Leeper Park, in the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />by the Layne Northern Company for the sum of $6400.00 for each well, to be <br />paid for by the South Bend Water Works in accordance with the provisions of <br />said contract, a copy of which is attached to this ordinance, be and the same <br />hereby is in all things confirmed, ratified and approved by the Common Council <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Section 2. Be it fu'pther ordained that this ordinance shall be <br />in full force and effect from and after its enactment and the approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />
