3/7/40 The Members of the Common Council: Procedure to be followed in connection with approval of the fire truck purchase contract, and appropriation of funds: 1. Public hearing on special appropriation ordinance, advertised for hearing on March 11th, and motion to report the ordinance favorably to the Common Council. 2. When the Council convenes a motion should be made to rescind the action taken by the Common Council in approving a contract made between the Board of Public Works and Safety and The American IaFrance Z A hmni:de Company for the purchase of a 1250 gallon pumper. A roll call should be recorded on this motion. 3. After the rescinding of the ordinance approving the contract for purchase of a fire truck, a vote should be taken on the special appropriation ordinance, appropriating eighteen hundred and some dollars from the General Fund to the Fire Department new equipment fund. 4. After the adoption of the special appropriation ordinance, a request should be made by a member of the Council to again present the ordinance approving the fire truck purchase contract for the third reading. 5. After a third reading of the fire truck approval ordinance, the follow- ing motion should be made by a member of the Council: nI move that Section 1 of this ordinance be amended by adding the following words to the end of said Section - 'Subject, however, to the approval by the State Board of Tax Commissioners of a special appropriation of $1870.25 for fire department budgetary item No. Q 17 (a)' ". This motion to amend should then be voted on by the Council. 6. If the motion to amend is adopted then a motion should be made to pass the ordinance as amended.
