RESOLUTION NO. <br />1999 -92 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, COMMEMORATING THE LATE EDWARD W. "MOOSE" KRAUSE. <br />'Dl 3J 49Z(9%16, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes with <br />extreme sadness the passing of Edward W. "Moose" Krause on December 11, 1992 at the <br />age of 79 years; and <br />9I)O1tZO%M, he was known by many as "Mr. Notre Dame' and "the gentle giant" who <br />always put others first before himself; and <br />"QIll7fjCM91M, the City of South Bend proudly acknowledges that "Moose" Krause <br />served for 37 years as the one and only Chairman of the South Bend Recreation <br />Commission, beginning this service in 1955; and <br />"DI11IWA( 2b, Moose Krause was recruited to the University of Notre Dame by Knute <br />Rockne in 1930, earned all- American honors in football and basketball, later coached <br />basketball and football at the University, and served as the University's Athletic Director <br />from 1948 until his retirement in 1980. <br />'DO)1f)O1 OWS, the City of South Bend is indeed a better place because of the many <br />contributions made to it by the late Edward W. "Moose' Krause. <br />7a&W, 191Fj(M6101 0, 180 1Z ®1 02131 01D by the Common Council of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana as follows: <br />Section I On behalf of all the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council publicly commemorates the life and legacy of Edward W. "Moose' Krause. <br />Section II. The City of South Bend truly believes that the late Edward W. "Moose' <br />Krause epitomized living life to the fullest as characterized by his community service, <br />selfless dedication to others, and devotion and love to his family, his alma mater and his <br />community. <br />Section III. The Common Council extends its deepest sympathy to the family of <br />"Moose" Krause and in particular his daughter, Mary Carrigan, his son, Rev. Edward C. <br />Krause, C.S.C., and his son, Philip C.
