ORDINANCE N0.3 ,36-9' <br />AN ORDINANCE AE[M ING ORDINANCE N0. &9 79 <br />WITH REFERENCE TO RATE OF FARE FOR TAXI- <br />CABS. <br />Be it ordained by the Common Council of the city <br />of South Bend, Indianan <br />Section 1. That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 2979 <br />be amended to read as follows& <br />Section 13. RATES OF FARE. No person, firm or <br />corporation, owning, operating or controlling Any motor <br />vehicle used as a taxicab within the limitss of th@ city of <br />South Bend shall charge less than the following •rates to be <br />determined by the taximeter: <br />First half mile or fraction thereof...... 151 <br />For each succeeding half mile thereafter. 050 <br />r <br />nor more than the following rates to be determined by the taxi- <br />meter: <br />First half mile or fraction thereof...... WO <br />i?or each succeeding quarter mile - there- <br />&f ter ........................... >.. 05$ <br />Provided, however, that a, taxieab'may be hired at <br />the rate of $1.50 per hour when so hired before the trip is <br />begin and provided. further that for each 4 minutes of waiting <br />time there may be made a charge of 10¢. Waiting time shall <br />include the time when the taxicab is not in motion beginning <br />with its arrival at the place to which it has been called, <br />or the time consumed while standing at the direction of the <br />passenger, but no charge shall be made for time lost because <br />of the inefficiency of the taxieatr or its operator or for time <br />consumed by a premature response to call. The above charges <br />shall be for one or more persons. No taxicab shall be let or <br />hired. upon a meter basis when the taximeter does not accurately <br />register the fare for any reason. <br />
