February 21, 1941 • :IC : •' •U • ' YC1• • 1' YCi:h: Relative to the obsolete equipment located at the North Pumping Station at Leeper Park, and which equipment is described on the attached sheet: The equipment is 27 years olds and has been in more or less continuous use for this length of time; is highly inefficient as compared to the modern equipment which was installed, and which replaced the pumps and steam engines. We feel in our minds that in checking this, that this has little more value than junk at the present price for cast iron, and which price is approximately $13,00 per ton today, on location. The Manufacturer's weights on this equipment is 22570 pounds, or approximately 114 tons, which makes a total junk value of $146„25, and which is believed to be a fair price, As there is a possibility that if a buyer could be located who might have use for this equipment, or part of it, that more money might be realized than the figures above, that Mr, Cain contact the used Machin" ery Dealers in the Chicago Area, offering this equipment as is, and if a better price than the figures mentioned could be obtained, within the next two weeks, that the offer be accepted, otherwise that the equipment whould be sold at the present junk price of $13,00 per ton, A further suggestion is offered, that Mr, Cain place an advertisement in a suitable newspaper, offering this equipment for sale, either as used equipment, or as junk, Very truly yours, Board of Appraisers appointed by the Water Works Board, (signed) 0.0.
