Schoby addressed the Committee. The Committee meeting minutes noted that he presented <br />information: <br />...to name a prominent roadway (he suggest LWW) in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. <br />Currently the inner belt from W. Washington to LWW carries the MLK designation. This street portion has <br />no addresses and is seen by Mr. Scobey and others as a slight to Dr. King...." <br />On December 13, 2013, a "Frustration Walk" requesting a more adequate location for Dr. Martin Luther <br />King, Jr. Drive was held, with an update being sent to Interim Mayor Mark Neal and the Board of Public <br />Works. <br />Several members of the South Bend community have also addressed this topic over the past several months <br />at Common Council meetings during Privilege of the Floor. <br />In the interest of having public input on this important topic, the attached resolution is filed aimed at: <br />• Establishing a process for all city residents and business owners operating in the City of South Bend <br />to make recommendations on a potential additional street to be renamed <br />• Establishing a reasonable time period for the public to participate <br />• Establishing a process which is transparent <br />• Recommending that the Board of Public Works meet at a reasonable time and location so that the <br />public having the opportunity to participate <br />
