PUBLIC WORKS & PROPERTY VACATION APRIL 27, 2015 4:33 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: Valerie Schey, Dr. David Varner, Henry Davis, Oliver Davis (XAB) <br />Citizen Members Present: Vacant <br />Other Council Present: Tim Scott (XAB), Dr. Fred Ferlic, Karen White, Gavin Ferlic, <br />Derek Dieter <br />Others Present: Eric Horvath, Kara Boyles, Brian Pawlowski, Peter Kaminsky, <br />Jeff Schmaltz <br />Agenda: Update on the Curb & Sidewalk Program <br />Valerie Schey, Chair of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee called the meeting to order o <br />hear an update on the city's curb and sidewalk program from the Director of Public Works, Eric Horvath. <br />Valerie has been a vocal proponent for an expanded curb and sidewalk program. She has insisted such a <br />program be a long -term consistent commitment as well as one that be equitable among all sectors of <br />the city. <br />Eric Horvath spoke about the three prong program the city is undertaking in 2015. Among the newly <br />inaugurated approach was an emphasis on areas around schools. Also a no cost component for <br />homeowners unable to pay for sidewalk replacement though it has become a safety hazard. Finally an <br />expanded reimbursement plan with a more resident homeowner split with the city of the replacement <br />costs. Eric also allowed to a less than forthcoming response from some Councilmembers when he asked <br />them to list the curbs and sidewalk areas needing the most work. <br />After Eric's presentation, Valerie again stated the need for district equity. <br />Valerie Schey adjourned the meeting at 4:54 p.m. <br />qectfully Submitted, : J,-,, <br />Valerie Schey, Chairperson <br />Public Works & Property Vacation <br />
