ORDINANCE NO.217411 AS AMENDED. <br />ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING THE AMOUNT OF 95,000.00 <br />FROM THE GEN WAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA TO THE BUDGET OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC <br />WORKS AND SAFETY, AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />A14OUNT FOR THE PR12ARATION AND MAINTENANCE <br />OF CIVIL DEFENSE. <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America is now at war <br />with Germany, Italy and Japan; and <br />WHEREAS, the President of the United States, the <br />Governor of the State of Indiana, and the IYtayor of the City of <br />South Bend have each declared the existence of an emergency; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, on its own behalf and in cooperation with other units of <br />government, should create and maintain a proper defense system <br />the protection of the persons and property within its city limits. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL, <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THAT: <br />Section 1• <br />The amount of $5,000.00 be, and the same is, hereby <br />transferred from the General Fund of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana to the Budget of the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Section 2• <br />That the said amount be, and the same is, hereby <br />appropriated for the preparation of and paying all expenses <br />reasonably incurred in creating and maintaining a proper civil <br />defense arrangement for the City of South Bend, Indiana, for <br />and on its own behalf, or in cooperation with other government <br />units.
