RESOLUTION NO. 0�-UD. /p <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, COMMENDING STEPHEN J. LUECKE FOR HIS NINE YEARS OF SERVICE <br />AS FIRST DISTRIC COUNCIL MEMBER FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />VWtas, the South Bend Common Council acknowledges that Stephen J. Luecke has <br />proudly served as First District Council Member since January 1, 1988; and <br />Ubtrta!s, with his keen eye for enhancing neighborhoods, he has advanced several new <br />and innovative programs from which our entire City has benefitted, including but not limited to <br />improving the curfew regulations and enacting the loud party ordinance; and <br />Ubtrta!u, Steve has effectively and very competently served as Council President, <br />Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee which oversees real and personal tax <br />abatements; has been Chairperson of the Personnel and Finance Committee; has dedicated <br />countless hours each year on each of the City's wage negotiating teams; was instrumental in <br />supporting the performance based budgeting system; and was always a key person in enhancing <br />broad based coalitions which were in the best interests of the City; and <br />Vbtrt00, with his sincere interest in neighborhood preservation and positive vision of <br />the City of South Bend's future, Mayor Elect - Luecke will have the necessary support and <br />assistance to provide strong leadership as the City continues to work toward its goal of being <br />recognized as a model city by the year 2000; and <br />'DQl XV*010, the Council also acknowledges that during his nine years of service to the City, <br />Steve has logged more hours in his office on the telephone with constituents and has been able to <br />creatively pile up more paper in his Council office than any other Council Member in recent <br />memory. <br />AO L ZntrdOrt, Vt It fthi ttb by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all the the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br />Common Council hereby publicly commends STEPHEN J. LUECKE for his nine (9) years of <br />dedicated and very capable leadership to the citizens of South Bend as First District Council <br />Member. <br />Section H. The Common Council notes that in addition to Steve's athletic abilities on the <br />basketball court for Gus Macker and during the City Council's annual volley ball tournaments, <br />Steve has provided thoughtful guidance, learned suggestions, and sincere recommendations which <br />have established a solid and firm foundation for him to become the next Mayor of our City. <br />Section III.
