Tmr 0- SO�`H FEi " _D, <br />I3iz . <br />heretofore, there was duly enacted Ordinance No. 2938 and <br />Ordinance No. 3277 of the City of South Bend, Indiana,the formejentitled <br />";fin ordinance relating to the protection of t'^e right-of-way of the Grand <br />Trunk Western Railroad Company over certain Streets in the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana" and the latter entitled "9n Ordinance relative to the Protection of <br />the Crossing of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Comn_nany of South Eddy Street, <br />South Notre Dame .,venue, South Columbia Street and South Carroll Street in <br />the Cite of South Bend, Indiana," which ordinances, in Dart, provided for <br />the protection of the intersection of railway tracks of t:e Grand Trunk ?iestern <br />Railroad Company with Fellow Street and I:incoln ;lay East, both being public <br />streets in the City of South Bend, Indiana; and, <br />PI, RE'aS the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company has installed a <br />public crossing at 30th Street in the City of South Bend, Indiana, and has <br />erected and is maintaining an automatic flasher warning signal at the cross- <br />ing of its tracks over 30th Street, and has erected and is maintaining <br />manually operated electric warning flasher signals at the crossing of its <br />tracks where the same cross Lincoln lay East at grade, and where its tracks <br />cross Fellow Street at grade in the City of South Bend, Indiana; and, <br />i MPEAS this Council is of the opinion that said manually operated <br />flash lights as placed and now operated should be so connected with the <br />tracks of said Railroad Company that they will become automatic in their <br />operation throughout the twenty -four hours of each day; and, <br />?'L _3 , the Council is of the opinion that the automatic flash <br />lights, as now placed and in operation at 30th Street in the City of South <br />Fend, Indiana, afford sufficient protection to the public in its use of said <br />crossing. <br />
