1253 Diamond <br />Historical Context <br />This property is located on the southeast corner of Thomas Street and Walnut <br />Street, in South Bend, Indiana. It is described as being lot 48 of Fowler's Second <br />Subdivision to South Bend. <br />Fire Station #4 was built in 1920 <br />The City of South Bend sold the building to Richard Kennedy on July 14, 1978. <br />ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION <br />This is a two story Period Revival Style Fire Station. It has a flat roof with <br />limestone parapet coping, metal parapet scupper/cornice with brick brackets underneath <br />with elaborate limestone detailing at the ends. The building is made of brick with ornate <br />limestone detailing. The windows are one over one double hung with limestone sills, all of <br />which except for the windows along the front facade are boarded up. The building also <br />has a paneled wood entry door and two hinged wooden garage doors for the fire trucks. <br />~.. , .. .q... <br />~l r <br />s <br />
