He said the common wage law had
been in effort since 1935. Henry said the bill protects the local economy assuring fair wages for local
tradesmen.
Following Henry was Jim Gardner, President of the local building trades, who in addition to echoing
Henry's comments about the repercussions to the local economy if repealed, went on to describe other
negative effects such as threatening the apprenticeship program.
During the Council question portion both Karen White and David Varner asked questions about the
process of the current wage setting board. Dr. Fred Ferlic and Gavin Ferlic both voiced support for the
current wage process saying it works.
Derek Dieter motioned for a favorable recommendation. Valerie Schey seconded and it received
unanimous support.
Karen White adjourned the meeting at 4:17 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Karen White, Chairperson
Personnel & Finance Committee
