PARKS, ARTS, RECREATION AND CULTURE (PARC) COMMITTEE <br />Date: December 30, 2014 <br />To: The South Bend Common Council <br />The Office of the City Clerk <br />From: Council Member Dr. Fred Ferlic , PARC Committee Chairperson <br />Introduction: <br />Pursuant to § 2 -10 (i) of the South Bend Municipal Code, I am filing this Annual Report of the PARC <br />Committee, which highlights some of the activities of this calendar year. The Committee oversees activities <br />of the Century Center, the Morris, Potawatomi Zoo, and the many other recreational activities offered by <br />the Parks Department. As Chairperson, I attempted to attend as many of the Park Board of Commissioner <br />meetings as I could so that I had a good understanding of some of the day -to -day operations of the many <br />activities offered in our city. <br />This year's Committee members included: <br />LuElla Webster, Citizen Member Derek Dieter,Vice- Chairperson <br />Larry Clifford, Citizen Member Henry Davis, Jr., Member <br />Tim Scott, Member <br />and myself as Chairperson. <br />We had eleven (11) meetings this year, with some of the topics discussed and reviewed being: <br />• Discussion of the five (5) year Park Plan governing the City's 57 parks and many other Park <br />activities <br />• Discussion and favorable recommendation for the Energy Savings Contract for the Century Center <br />with Ameresco <br />• Ash tree policies <br />• Potential park bond <br />In the new year, continued discussions on funding mechanism will be taking place with the Park Board and <br />the City Administration to further enhance and maintain our City's excellent park and recreation programs. <br />Thank you. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Vkl <br />Council Member Dr. Fred Ferlic <br />PARC Committee Chairperson <br />Filed ko vfflce <br />3 0 7014 <br />CITY CLEI'tfe, <br />
