V 2014 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE <br />INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE <br />OF THE <br />SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL <br />Pursuant to § 2 -10 of the South Bend Municipal Code, the following 2014 Annual Report <br />of the Information and Technology Committee is filed which briefly highlights some of the <br />activities and projects which took place this calendar year. <br />Duties: The Information and Technology Committee is charged with "overseeing the various <br />activities of the City's information technologies so that all computer systems, websites, and related <br />technologies are maintained and upgraded so as to remain competitive and up -to -date with current <br />industry standards" pursuant to § 2 -10 (i) 6) of the South Bend Municipal Code. <br />Committee Members: There are five (5) members on this Committee: Council Member Gavin <br />Ferlic who served as Vice - Chairperson; Dr. David Varner, member; Council Member Henry <br />Davis, Jr., Michael Lane who served as a citizen member and and myself, who served as <br />Chairperson of this standing Council committee. <br />Meetings and Activities: To date, there have been seven (7) meetings held. Some of the topics <br />addressed at these meetings included: <br />Discussion and updates on the PSAP consolidation began at the April 14`h meeting and <br />continued with meetings in July and in the Fall where Todd Gears provided updates at joint <br />meetings held with the Health and Public Safety Committee <br />Ongoing discussions regarding "best practices" regulations governing city -owned <br />technologies, Facebook standards and social networking policies and procedures. <br />There is a need to continue to interface with the City's IT Division and the Human Resources <br />Director for ongoing training on all technologies used in the capacity as legislative elected <br />officials. <br />Implementing a paperless legislative system will require continued collaboration with the Office <br />of the City Clerk and the City Administration throughout the new year.
