KOLATA
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
TAX ABATEMENT REPORT
TO: SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL
FROM: CASSANDRA MORAN
SUBJECT: REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT PETITION FOR:
USF HOLLAND INC.
5550 Cleveland Road
DATE: March 7, 2000
PHONE 219/235 -9371
FAX 219/235 -9021
TDD 219/ 235 -5567
On February 28, 2000, a petition for tax abatement
consideration for real property located at 5550 Cleveland Road was
filed with the City Clerk by South Bend Redevelopment Commission on
behalf of USF Holland Inc. Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 6,
Section 2 -77 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, this
petition was referred to the Department of Community and Economic
Development for purposes of investigation and preparation of a
report determining whether the area qualifies as an Economic
Revitalization Area pursuant to I.C.6- 1.1- 12.1 -1 and whether all
zoning requirements have been met.
The Department of Community and Economic Development has
reviewed the petition (a copy of which is attached), investigated
the area and makes the following report.
PROJECT SUMMARY
USF Holland is a less than truck load carrier providing
logistics and just in time trucking operations supporting its
customers throughout the United States and beyond. The petitioner
proposes to construct a terminal facility between Cleveland Road
and the Indiana Toll Road. The project is estimated to cost $6.0
million and reflects the need for expansion of the existing South
Bend operations to accommodate the rapid growth of the company.
REDEVELOPMENT
BUSINESS ASSISTANCE
FINANCIAL SL PROGRAM
BUREAU OF HOUSING
PLANNING & NEIGHBORHOOD
ANN E.
