ORDINANCE NO. & 702 2_ <br />AN ORDINANCE AMINDI1I3 SECTION 38 OF CHAPTER 29 <br />OF ORDINANCE NO. 3709 KNOWN AS THE 1949 MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOMH BEND, INDIANA. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bends Indiana: <br />Section 1* That Section 38 of Chapter 29 of Ordinance Nee <br />37090 the some being known as the 1949 Municipal Code of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, be and.the same is hereby amended to read as <br />follows: Section-38o Stepping at preferential streets: <br />(a) When stop signs are ersctpi by authority of the Board <br />of Public Works and Safety upon highways intersecting a streets then <br />the street so intersected shall be deemed a preferakthl street for <br />the purpose of this seotionj provided, however, that the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety shall not so designate streets where such <br />action is hereafter prohibited by the Common Council of the City* <br />(b) When stop signs are erected upon public highways <br />intersecting.& preferential street at the entrances thereto or at the <br />entrance to any intersection, every driver of a motor vehicle and <br />every motorman of an electric train shall stop at every such sign <br />or at a clearly narked stop line before entering the intersection* <br />except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic <br />control signals provided, however, that no electric train used <br />stop at any such sign or line where automatic gates arc in operation <br />for the control of traffic* (Ord.
