AMENDED FIVE YEAR INTER -LOCAL AGREEMENT <br />CONCERNING EMS SERVICES <br />1. This agreement is between St. Joseph County (hereinafter "St. Joseph ") and the City <br />of South Bend (hereinafter "South Bend "). <br />2. The purpose of this agreement is to help provide ambulance service for those <br />portions of St. Joseph County which do not otherwise have it available. The area to be <br />served shall be referred to herein as "Unincorporated County" and is more specifically <br />described as: all portions of St. Joseph County except for South Bend, Mishawaka, and <br />property owned or operated by the University of Notre Dame (which is served by South <br />Bend under a separate contract with Notre Dame). <br />3. This agreement shall remain in full force and effect from January 1,1998 until <br />December 31, 2002. <br />4. This agreement shall be administered through a joint board consisting of six (6) <br />members who shall be; <br />a. The three (3) County Commissioners of St. Joseph; <br />b. The Mayor of South Bend, The South Bend Fire Chief, and The South Bend <br />City Controller. <br />Each member shall have the right to a give a written power of attorney to any other <br />person for a particular meeting. <br />5. The staffing and supplying of paramedical services shall be by South Bend. South <br />Bend will operate three (3) Advanced Life Support ( "ALS ") Ambulances, each properly <br />equipped and staffed to serve the Unincorporated County. <br />
