COMMUNITY INVESTMENT NOVEMBER 10 2013 <br />Committee Members Present <br />Other Council Present <br />Others Present <br />Gavin Ferlic, Henry Davis, Jr., Valerie Schey, <br />Derek Dieter <br />Karen White, Oliver Davis, Dr. David Varner, <br />Tim Scott, Dr. Ferlic <br />Patrick Mullen, Kathy Hahn, Dale DeVon, Tim <br />Baker, Media <br />3:30pm Bill 14 -104- Designating Tax Abatement for Laura Carlson & Robert <br />West/802 Napoleon <br />Chairperson Gavin Ferlic opened the meeting. <br />A presentation was given by Kathy Hahn and Dale DeVon from DeVon Builders. The <br />taxes that would be paid and the taxes abated were both mentioned. <br />Dr. Varner asked Dale DeVon if Mishawaka offers Residential tax abatements, he said <br />no. Valerie Schey wanted to make sure the property was not in the Triangle, It's not. <br />Dr. Ferlic mentioned that they need to look at what is considered a distressed area on a <br />case by case basis. Need to have a discussion on TIF and distressed area boundaries. <br />Dr. Varner mentioned that he would give away tax abatements all day long as an <br />incentive for people to build and pay taxes on.
