Bill 14 -107 — Designating Tax Abatement for <br />3 addresses in Lake Blackthorn <br />2. Discussion on a recommendation for the St. <br />Joseph County Economic Development <br />Commission appointment <br />Gavin Ferlic brought the meeting to order. There was a motion to substitute Bill 14 -107 <br />by adding language that makes it a special exception. Kathy Hahn from Community <br />Investment made a brief presentation on the 3 properties at 4946 & 5004 Stern Line Ct. <br />and 4919 Bow Line Court. Steve Cooreman of Cooreman Properties said these 3 houses <br />have already been built. These properties fell between the cracks when the original tax <br />abatement was redone. Said it was a timing issue. He explained that in subdivisions <br />the tax abatements are an important incentive. <br />Val Schey mentioned the fact of people paying for City services instead of septic. <br />Steve Cooreman said most people don't grasp the septic concept. People want the city <br />services, it's a great selling point. Derek Dieter said the police, fire and all the city services <br />all are a big part of it. <br />There was a motion by Val /2nd Derek to send substitute bill 14 -107 to the council <br />favorable. <br />Scott Ford presented the fact that the St. Joseph County Economic Development <br />Commission needs a seat filled.
