However, <br /> in analyzing the crime rates we see an increase in violent crimes. A November 20, 2014 Fox 28 <br /> news report stated that "...However, reports of aggravated assault are up 19%, rape is up <br /> 16%, and homicide is up 133%, without even this week's fatal stabbing of Douglas <br /> Smallwood being factored in yet. If officially ruled a homicide, Smallwood's.killing will be <br /> the city's 15th homicide of 2014." <br /> As a city we must provide more investments in counseling, family therapy and other early <br /> intervention efforts. Other cities who provide resources in prevention efforts see a decrease in <br /> violent crimes.
