HEALTH AND PUBLIC SAFETY NOVEMBER 10, 2008 <br />Committee Members Present: Karen White, Chairperson; Ann Puzzello; Henry Davis; Donald <br />Brubaker, Citizen Member; <br />Others Present: AI "Buddy" Kirsits; Timothy Rouse; David Varner; Rita Kopala, Martha Lewis; <br />Howard Buchanon; Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand; Jamie Loo; Catherine Fanello <br />Agenda: <br />BILL NO. 64-08 -EMERGENCY SERVICE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND <br />This bill appropriates $73,380 from fund #288. The money is part of a federal grant to the SBFD <br />from the Homeland Security Department. The grant will allow a computer based firefighter <br />training program. All eleven fire stations would be provided with both hardware and software for <br />the training program. <br />Karen White called upon Assistant Chief Mark Nowicki to make the presentation. Councilmember <br />Puzzello asked if each station would receive a computer for training. <br />Answer: Yes <br />Tim Rouse asked if efforts were aggressively made to seek grant dollars. <br />Answer: Yes <br />On a motion by Councilmember Puzzello, seconded by Citizen Member Donald Brubaker, the bill <br />was sent to the full Council favorably. <br />There being no further business to come before the committee, Chairperson White, adjourned the <br />meeting at 3:38 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />a ~r~~ <br />Karen L.
