I
South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—October 16, 2014
3. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS (CONT.)
1
1 Upon a motion Mr. Downes, seconded by Ms. Schey and unanimously carried, the Commission
approved the Claims submitted October 16, 2014.
4. COMMUNICATIONS
There were no Communications.
i
5. OLD BUSINESS
There was no Old Business.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Receipt of Bids
(1) Receipt of Bids for Lot 1 Ardmore Trail Minor Subdivision
There were no bids received for Lot 1 Ardmore Trail Minor Subdivision. Unity Gardens
submitted a letter expressing its interest in the property, though it could not meet the
offering price. Mr. Relos noted that following a 30-day waiting period, proposals for this
property that do not conform to the bid specifications may be considered and negotiated.
(2) Receipt of Bids for Blackthorn Golf Course
Mr. Relos noted that two bids were received. The first was a bid from The Acquisition
Group LLC, South Bend, Indiana, offering the minimum offering price of$1,655,000. The
second was from Bartell & Company Auctioneers, Middlebury, Indiana, for an offering
price to be determined.
I Ms. Greene noted that the bid from Bartell & Company is non-responsive. It appears to be
a proposal to conduct an auction as opposed to a proposal to purchase the property. She
suggested referring both proposals to staff for review and report at a later date.
Ms. Schey asked who the principals of The Acquisition Group LLC are. Mr. Relos looked
through the documentation and did not see a list of the principals. Ms. Greene explained
that staff will do its due diligence, researching the bidder and its principals prior to
reporting back to the Commission.
Ms. Schey asked staff to provide the names of the principals to Commissioners. Mr. Relos
responded that he would.
Mr. Zeeb noted that DCI also received a bid later than the 9:00a.m., October 16 deadline.
Ms. Greene noted that under state law when the Commission posts a time certain by which
a bid must be received, that time closes the window for anyone to submit anything after
3
