South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br /> Regular Meeting—October 30, 2014 (€ <br /> 3. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS (CONT.) <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by Mr. Inks and unanimously carried, the Commission <br /> approved the Claims submitted October 30, 2014. <br /> 1 4. COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications. <br /> 5. OLD BUSINESS <br /> There was no Old Business. <br /> 6. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. South Bend Central Development Area <br /> (1) Staff update on South Bend Chemical Inc. <br /> Ms. Heintzelman noted that South Bend Chemical South Bend Chemical is a small locally <br /> owned business located on South Michigan Street, which we are looking to help with an <br /> approach into their business. This approach will allow South Bend Chemical's trucks access <br /> to their loading and parking areas. The approach is part of their larger project that includes <br /> the repaving, fencing, and overall improvement to their property, thereby allowing them to <br /> expand their business by creating two new jobs. <br /> South Bend Chemical is located in an area that has had difficulty retaining businesses and <br /> these improvements would help them to not only remain, but expand. South Bend Chemical <br /> commits to invest $90,000 into the parking and building improvements, as well as create <br /> two new jobs by December 31, 2016. <br /> Upon a motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by Mr. Inks and unanimously carried the <br /> Commission accepted the staff report and authorized staff to prepare a development <br /> agreement with South Bend Chemical according to the terms stated. <br /> (2) Lease Termination request for 121 S. Michigan St. (Metronet) <br /> Mr. Zeeb noted that Metronet has been leasing space at 121 S. Michigan St. in the Michigan <br /> Street Shops. Pursuant to the lease agreement Metronet has requested to terminate its lease, <br /> effective the end of December 2013. Metronet has outgrown the space and will be looking <br /> to expand its footprint in another downtown location. Staff will work with Bradley <br /> Company and Downtown South Bend to market and lease this space to a new tenant. <br /> 1 Upon a motion by Mr. Varner, seconded by Mr. Downes and unanimously carried, the <br /> Commission approved the lease termination with Metronet, effective December 31, 2014. <br /> s <br /> 3 <br /> 1 <br /> tr <br />
