RESOLUTION NO. 3 � 31-0, - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />ENCOURAGING THE PUBLIC TO SUPPORT AND ATTEND ON MARCH 28-30,2005 <br />THE MCDONALD'S ALL AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAMES. <br />Wliwwaa, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to <br />recognize that the 2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games will be <br />held March 28th through March 30th in our community; and <br />WAlanireaa, the Council notes that these games provide an opportunity for persons <br />throughout the United States to see the best high school senior girls and boys play basketball, <br />with the proceeds benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Ronald McDonald <br />Family Rooms in South Bend and Fort Wayne, Indiana, so that parents of seriously ill or injured <br />children may have a home away from home in the midst of the health challenges facing their <br />children; and <br />Wemaa, the South Bend Common Council recognizes each of the forty-eight (48) <br />players selected from 2,500 top high school boys and girls basketball players from throughout <br />the nation for the prestigious the 2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball <br />Teams, with legendary UCLA Coach John Wooden serving as overall Chairperson of the Games <br />and an advisor to the selection committee and DeMatha High School Head Basketball Coach <br />Morgan Wootten of Hyattsville, Maryland serving as the Chairperson of the selection committee. <br />Poa, Cam% Ge iC xeaa/nwrl by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, encourages <br />everyone to see the future stars of the basketball court by watching in person the players of the <br />2005 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Teams, with the girls playing at 5:30 <br />p.m. and the boys playing at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the Joyce Center at <br />the University of Notre Dame, and sincerely thanks all parties involved for selecting our <br />community to host these prestigious games whose proceeds will benefit so many. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard -work, discipline, <br />dedication, both on the basketball court and in the class room of each member of the 2005 <br />McDonald's All American High School Basketball Team has enabled each team member to <br />be an excellent role model for youth throughout our country; and each team member has brought <br />the highest of honors to themselves, their family and friends, to our community and our nation. <br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption <br />the CovAcil 4pd apprAl by the Mayor. <br />D.
