RESOLUTION NO. -S l 3 3—O,' <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />PUBLICLY COMMENDING JOHN ADAMS HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL TEAM FOR <br />WINNING THE 2005 MOCK TRIAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br />' 1,emaa, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to recognize <br />that more than sixty (60) schools from throughout the State of Indiana recently competed in regional <br />mock trial competitions; and that the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team ultimately won <br />the Mock Trial State Championship held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 12 -13, 2005 with this <br />marking the 5t' consecutive year in which a John Adams team emerged as the State Champion; and <br />Wlpmaa, the Council notes that mock trial is an extracurricular program where a fictitious <br />case involves either criminal or civil allegations; and where mock trial team members compete in <br />actual courtrooms & display their knowledge of procedure, debate and drama skills complete with <br />witness statements, stipulations, exhibits, relevant law and jury instructions before judges; and <br />°A", the Council would especially like to publicly recognize that the John Adams <br />High School Mock Trial Program is organized and sponsored by Judith Overmyer, a teacher at <br />John Adams; that their Mock Trial coach was South Bend attorney Gregory K. Blanford, who has <br />volunteered countless hours of his time in preparing this year's Indiana State Championship Mock <br />Trial Team whose members include: <br />Eric Blom Jordan Hurwich Eric Silverstri <br />Emily Cahill Avatar Joshi Stephen Veldman <br />Brandon Mahon <br />UVaas, ��.Pive�ave, Ge W reaaG , by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the John Adams High School Mock <br />Trial Team, along with their program's organizer and sponsor, Judith Overmyer and their coach <br />Gregory K. Blanford for winning the 2005 Mock Trial State Championship. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard -work, discipline, and <br />dedication of the students on the John Adams High School Mock Trial Team has enabled each of <br />these juniors to be excellent role models for all students throughout our country; and each team <br />member has brought the highest of honors to themselves, their family and friends, John Adams <br />High School, the South Bend Community School Corporation and all of the residents of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Section III . The Common Council wishes the John Adams High School Mock Trial <br />Team the very best as they represent the State of Indiana at the National High School Mock Trial <br />Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 5-7,2005. <br />Section IV .
