<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />PUBLICLY COMMENDING THE 2004 -2005 UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME FENCING TEAM
<br />FOR WINNING THE NCAA COMBINED FENCING NATIONAL TITLE
<br />Wei -w4, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is proud to recognize
<br />that the University of Notre Dame 2004 -2005 Fencing Team won the NCAA Combined Fencing
<br />National Title on March 20, 2005; to win the fencing program's 71h national title; and
<br />fflA xeaa, the Council notes that the University of Notre Dame Fencing Team qualified 11
<br />of the maximum 12 total entrants in the 4 -day event, with this team being the 15` fencing program
<br />ever to win the NCAA title without the full allotment of fencers when they beat the Buckeyes of the
<br />Ohio State University Fencing Team 173 -171, in the final rounds of the fencing bouts; and
<br />O#Xwweaa, the South Bend Common Council recognizes each of the players and coaches of
<br />the gold -medal NCAA University of Notre Dame Championship Fencing Team, namely:

<br />Indiana, as follows:
<br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common
<br />Council hereby congratulates each and every member of the University of Notre Dame 2004 -2005
<br />Fencing Team for winning the NCAA Combined Fencing National Title
<br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that the hard -work, discipline,
<br />dedication, and special talents in using the epee, foil and saber as a member of the University of
<br />Notre Dame 2004 -2005 Fencing Team, has enabled each of these individuals to be an excellent
<br />role model in the classrooms and in fencing tournaments; with each team member bringing the
<br />highest of honors to themselves, their family and friends, the University of Notre Dame and all of
<br />the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
