Ordinance No. U333 — f <br />Substitute Bill No. 55 -14 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY AND MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS OF <br />SWORN MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR <br />CALENDAR YEARS 2015, 2016, AND 2017 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The South Bend Common Council, pursuant to Indiana Code § 36- 8 -3 -3, ¶ (d) is charged <br />with establishing before November l', the annual compensation of the South Bend Fire <br />Department. <br />On March 24, 2014, Chris Baker, the Vice - President of South Bend Firefighter's <br />Association informed the City of their interest to enter into negotiations. Thereafter, the South <br />Bend Common Council and the Board of Public Safety adopted separate Resolutions which <br />designated their respective agents for the negotiations. <br />The City's Advisory Negotiating Team's membership includes Council Member Derek D. <br />Dieter, Council Member Gavin Ferlic, Assistant Chief Todd Skwarcan, Assistant Chief Jim Lopez, <br />Battalion Chief "A" Shift Dave Maenhout, City Controller John Murphy, Human Resources <br />Director Janet Cadotte, Board of Public Safety Agent Cory Hamel and Council Agent Kathleen <br />Cekanski Farrand. <br />The South Bend Firefighter's Local Union # 362 Negotiating Team's membership includes <br />Captain Jim Weinberg, Union President; Captain Chris Baker, Union Vice - President, Captain <br />Mike Lagodney, Steward; Captain Russ Buysse, Pump Engineer and 1" Driver Ryan Takacs; and <br />Tim Curran, Legal Counsel. <br />This ordinance reflects the proposals discussed during negotiations which were tentatively <br />agreed to by the respective negotiating teams. It sets forth the recommended salaries and other <br />monetary benefits to be paid to the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department in calendar <br />years 2015, 2016 and 2017. Recognition. The South Bend Common Council recognizes the negotiating <br />team which represents the South Bend Firefighters' Association Local No. 362 of the International <br />Association of Firefighters, AFL -CIO, as the sole bargaining agent for the sworn members of the <br />South Bend Fire Department for purposes of negotiating annual pay, monetary fringe benefits and <br />
