ORDINANCE NO. L 0 3 2 <br />BILL NO. SO—(`( <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE CITY CLERK <br />FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2015 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The City Clerk serves as Clerk of the Common Council under Indiana Code § 36- <br />4-6-9 and maintains custody of its records. The City Clerk is also charged with maintaining <br />all records as required by law; keeping the city seal; administering oaths; taking <br />depositions; attending all regular and special meetings of the Council; and performing <br />many other duties as required by the Common Council. <br />The Common Council is required by under Indiana Code § 36 -4 -7 -2 to fix the <br />annual compensation of all elected city officers. Indiana Code § 36- 4 -11 -4 also authorizes <br />the City Clerk to appoint "the number of deputies and employees authorized by the city <br />legislative body ". The City Clerk currently oversees a staff of four (4) which includes the <br />Ordinance Violations Bureau. <br />r <br />r i <br />Section I.
