South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting—September 25, 2014
a
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
B. Airport Economic Development Area
(1) Professional Services Agreement with Danch Harner& Associates for Alta Survey for
Lot 5 at Oliver Plow Industrial Park
Mr. Kain explained that the Notre Dame/GE Turbo project which was approved by the
Commission in July will require a new electrical substation to meet the power demands of
the facility. In working with AEP over the last few months staff has identified lot 5 as the
best location for the substation. This lot is just to the west of Rose Brick, near the cul-de-sac
of Ignition Park. Staff requests permission to conduct a survey of the lot to continue the
1 development of Ignition Park.
1
1 Upon motion by Mr. Downes, seconded by Mr. Inks, and unanimously carried, the
t.' Commission approved the Professional Services Agreement with Danch Harper & Associate
for an Alta Survey for Lot 5 at Oliver Plow Industrial Park.
9
(2) Resolution No. 3250 Approving and Authorizing the Execution of An Addendum to the
Master Agency Agreement (Ignition Park Site Identity & Way-finding Signage)
Mr. Kain stated there is currently no signage in Ignition Park. As we have recently
announced several new projects in the area, staff finds it to be a good time to define the way-
finding and signage needs for the park. The infrastructure work on Ignition Park South is
scheduled to start in the spring so there is an opportunity to provide some gateway signage
as well as signage outside the area to direct people into the park. This is an agency
agreement with the Board of Public Works to begin to design signage and to re-look at the
logo created several years ago.
Upon motion by Ms. Schey, seconded by Mr. Downes, and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 3250 Approving and Authorizing the Execution of
An Addendum to the Master Agency Agreement(Ignition Park Site Identity & Way-finding
Signage).
(3) Resolution No. 3249 Approving and Authorizing the Execution of an Amendment to the
Addendum to the Master Agency Agreement (Ignition Park Phase IB Infrastructure—
9 Supplement#2)
Mr. Kain noted staff came to the Commission in December 2013 to begin the engineering
work for Ignition Park Phase II the south street as well connecting the circle. The
j Department of Public Works has terminated the contract with BSA Life-Structures as it was
1 unsatisfactory and are now working with a local firm, Abonmarche, to complete the
documents. This does not change the funding needs of the project as the remaining $60,000
will be sufficient to complete the original scope of work.
6
