White Contact: 235-5985 <br /> Residential Neighborhoods Committee Chairperson <br /> 5'" WalkinE Tour of South Bend Neighborhoods this Friday in LaSalle Park Area <br /> On Friday, July 25, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., City Council Vice-President & Health and Public <br /> Safety Committee Chairperson Derek D. Dieter and his committee and Council Member at Large Karen <br /> L. White, the Residential Neighborhoods Committee Chairperson and her members will begin their 5"' <br /> walking tour of neighborhoods. <br /> Friday's walk will focus on Lake and Washington; 100 to 200 block of Kaley; Sheridan and <br /> Linden; and Wellington and Huron in the 2"d Councilmanic District of South Bend. <br /> Past "hitting the pavement" tours of South Bend neighborhoods focused on: <br /> Coquillard Park Area Neighborhood which took place on June 17"' <br /> River Park Neighborhood area which took place on June 6"' <br /> 1"District Neighborhoods starting at Diamond and California which took place on May 19th. <br /> 1"District Neighborhoods starting at Adams and Elwood which took place on April 30th <br /> Joining Council Members Dieter and White on several of the past tours of neighborhoods have included <br /> 0 District Council Member Tim Scott and 4`h District Council Member Dr. Fred Ferlic. "Each of the <br /> walking tours has provided a great opportunity for residents to share their concerns first hand", noted <br /> Council Member Dieter and "all of the Council Members that are participating have a greater <br /> appreciation of those concerns so that they can be better addressed'. Council Member White noted <br /> that "so many quality of life concerns have been shared with us from the lack of proper lighting, <br /> concerns about vacant& abandoned housing and a variety ofpublic safety concerns". <br /> Data collected from all of the walking tours will be used when the Council begins their detailed review <br /> of the proposed 2015 civil city budget.
