Kathy Cekanski - Farrand <br />14. Erin Blasko <br />15. Dr. Fred Ferlic <br />Councilman Gavin Ferlic who serves as the City Council representative and Chair of the CCAC opened the <br />meeting. Gavin welcomed everyone thanking them for encouraging participation in last springs student <br />survey aimed at gauging their impressions of South Bend. Gavin said the survey results showed a more <br />positive impression of the City, especially from those from the Midwest. <br />Gavin then afforded each attendee, in turn, an opportunity for comment. <br />Tim Sexton was first. He gave positive reviews to the welcoming speech the Deputy Mayor Mark Neal <br />gave to incoming students. He also announced two events: <br />1. The annual back to school picnic at the Robinson Center would be held on the 19'" of <br />September. <br />The student bus tour of the City just prior to the picnic. Mark Neal's speech and the events all <br />encourage students to engage the community, particularly in the Near Northeast Neighborhood <br />and downtown. He also noted Louella Parsons has replaced the retired Marguerite Taylor at the <br />Robinson Center. <br />Kelly Jordan, Dean of Students at Holy Cross College was next. Kelly reported that they enjoyed the <br />second largest enrollment ever at the college. Ground would soon be broken for a new 68 bed <br />residence hall. He echoed Sexton's comments about the improving student perception about the <br />community especially from a safety standpoint. <br />Robert Lulgjuraj, Student Body President of Holy Cross College was next. He spoke of student <br />engagement in the community through the many volunteer activities with local non - profits like La Casa <br />
