Community/Campus Advisory Coalition (CCAC) <br />February 20, 2008 Meeting Minutes <br />Page 4 <br />• IU South Bend Student Body President Ivan Blount noted that they have <br />approximately 7,500 students and beginning in the Fall of 2008 will have on- <br />campus housing for 400 students; their campus is non-alcoholic; concern was <br />voiced with regard to proximity of the on-campus housing to the Wooden Indian <br />• Balancing neighborhood concerns of loud parties, drinking and letter, etc. and <br />student concerns of safety and security <br />• Private security has been hired by Kramer Property Management LLC who patrol <br />their properties from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the cost of $3,600 per month <br />• Need to have a representative of the local board of realtors on the CCAC <br />• Notre Dame's Student Body President Liz Brown noted that the "tone was set <br />early" and student government worked on a draft of a document entitled "Good <br />Neighbor Guide: University of Notre Dame Student's Guide to Off-Campus <br />Living" (copy on file) and off-campus seminar and Community Summits are <br />being planned for March, 2008 <br />"Culture of student expectations to be good neighbors" <br />• Student parties and monitoring such events <br />• Suggested that the City of South Bend's website www.southbendin.gov and a <br />map showing the residential areas of the city and their neighborhood association <br />contact information be placed in the "Good Neighbor Guide" <br />• How do we capture the success of last Fall? <br />• Need for ongoing collaborative sharing of ideas, events, etc. so that all parties <br />can work together as a team <br />• Need to CCAC to be provided in the number of off-campus students for each <br />college/university <br />• Need for statistical data on university sanctions for negative off-campus activities <br />• Whether grants are available and whether -they can be pursued as noted in <br />Footnote # 4, page 5 of Ordinance No. 9785-07 <br />
