This special assignment required <br /> several evaluations in order to determine Firefighter Jester's abilities in a leadership position.Chief <br /> Cox noted he has completed all requirements of the position he has occupied in outstanding fashion. <br /> Therefore, he is recommending that Captain in Special Assignment David Jester be permanently <br /> promoted to the rank of Captain,no longer in special assignment effective July 16,2014.Chief Cox <br /> noted Firefighter Jester has done a fantastic job in Special Assignment and has earned the respect of <br /> everyone, including the administrative staff. Upon a motion by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr.Jones <br /> and carried, the recommended permanent promotion was approved. <br /> APPROVE REQUEST FOR VOLUNTARY DEMOTION RONALD SIMONS <br /> In a letter to the Board, Chief Stephen Cox requested the Board honor the request for voluntary <br /> demotion to Firefighter First Class for Captain Ronald Simons in order to focus on his position as a <br /> Fire Department Public Education Officer. Chief Cox noted the effective date of this demotion is <br /> July 16, 2014. Mr. Taylor stated he would like to take this opportunity to extend his thanks to Mr. <br /> Simons.He stated he worked with him on the Fire Department and he was an outstanding individual <br /> that was always there for others when needed.Mr.Taylor added he always stood out.Upon a motion <br /> by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried,the voluntary demotion was approved. <br /> — FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT—JUNE 2014 <br /> Fire Chief Stephen Cox submitted to the Board the monthly report for June 2014 compiled by the <br /> Prevention/Inspection Bureau of the Fire Department. Chief Cox stated he would like to note for the <br /> record the one fatality last month was determined to be a suicide after investigation.He noted it was <br /> not due to lack of response on the part of the Fire Department.
