HUFF <br />DIRECTOR OF PLANNING <br />Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />5 April 1957 <br />The attached petition of Associates Investment Company to rezone land at <br />the intersection of Esther and Ruskin Streets from "B" Residential use <br />District and "A" Hetght and Area District to "D" Light Industrial Use <br />District and "E" Height and Area District being: <br />Lots I, 2,.and 3 in John Adams First Addition located at <br />the northeast corner of Ruskin and Esther Streets, <br />AND <br />Also a tract of land south of Ruskin Street, to -wit: <br />Commencing on the south line of Ruskin Street at a point. <br />136 feet East of the east line of Esther Street, thence <br />South 297 feet; thence East 332.45 feet; thence North <br />297 feet to the south line of Ruskin Street; thence west <br />333.46 feet, more or less, along the south line of Ruskin <br />Street to the place of beginning. <br />This petition was legally advertised under date of 25 March 1957 and <br />given public hearing under date of 4 April 1957. The following action <br />was taken: <br />After due consideration the Commission found that the general area <br />south of Ruskin Street is residential as to use and zoning, that <br />the subject area is adequate in size, shape and area for residential <br />development; that light industrial use of subject area would be an <br />unwarranted and unjustifiable intrusion into a residential area; that <br />no general neighborhood need was shown for increased industrial land <br />
