F <br />ra <br />_1j <br />ORDINANCE NO, 4117 <br />FRCDA GO (NOBLE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING GENERAL] ORDINANCE NO. 3p7�0,�0ry��Cy.L�rRK <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND;f' CTION 4 ' REO'y `" °-f -,� oZ� <br />PROVIDING FOR THE RATES OF FARE, AND SECTION 29 <br />THEREOF PROVIDING FOR MONTHLY INSPECTION, ACCURATE <br />TAXI INTER PREREQUISITE TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSES, <br />AND PROHIBITION OF DRIVING OF TAXICAB WITH <br />UIQAFPROVED TAXI METER &k'40-t' <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the %City o t h <br />Bend, Indiana, that Sections 4 and Sections 29 of General Ordi- <br />nance No. 3709 of the City of South Bend, be amended to read as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 4. - -- RATES OF FARE <br />The rates of fare charged by the owner of any taxicab <br />shall be as follows: <br />For the first one -fifth mile or fraction <br />thereof 45¢ <br />For each succeeding one -half mile <br />thereafter 10� <br />Provided, that a taxicab may be hired at the rate of <br />Three (:3.00) Dollars per hour for driving within the <br />city when so hired before the trip is begun; provided <br />further, that for each four minutes of waiting time <br />there may be a charge of twenty cents (20�). Waiting <br />time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in <br />motion, beginning at its arrival at the place to which <br />it has been called or the time consumed while standing <br />at the direction of the passenger, but no charge shall be <br />made for time lost because of the inefficiency of the taxi- <br />cab or its driver or time consumed by premature response <br />to a call. <br />The above charges shall be for one or more persons. <br />SECTION 29. -- INSPECTION AT REASONABLE INTERVALS; <br />ACCURAT R PREREQUISITE TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSES; <br />DRIVING OF TAXICAB PITH UNAPPROVED TAXIMETER PROHIBITED <br />All taximeters shall be inspected by the Inspector of <br />Weights and Measures in regard to the regulations herein <br />set forth at reasonable intervals. No license shall be <br />issued to the owner of any taxicab until the taximeter <br />attached thereto shall have been inspected and found to be <br />accurate, as provided in Section 32 of this chapter, by <br />the Inspector of Weights and Measures.
