J <br />3 Sb — o7% <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, PUBLICLY COMMENDING AND HONORING TRANSPO OPERATOR <br />CHERYL MOORE FOR HER ACTS OF HEROISM IN RESCUING A YOUNG CHILD <br />the Common Council notes that the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation, commonly <br />known as TRANSPO, is our municipal bus system which serves South Bend, Mishawaka, Roseland, area <br />colleges and universities, and the airport. TRANSPO provides vital transportation services which connect many <br />individuals with employment, health services, and entertainment opportunities; and <br />the Common Council further notes that TRANSPO's "Mission Statement" is "...to provide safe, <br />reliable, convenient and comfortable transportation services in a manner that utilizes the efforts of our <br />professional team, achieves a high standard of quality, delivers service using cost - effective approaches and <br />meets our commitment to both our customer's needs and the environment "; and <br />CA6,.� the Common Council recognizes that some of TRANSPO's "Core Values" include: "serving our <br />community above all else; aspiring to excellence; and demonstrating integrity and professionalism" were <br />recently on full display and were exhibited through the recent and heroic acts of TRANSPO Operator Cheryl <br />Moore; and <br />CXAK;m, on February 18, 2014, Cheryl Moore was driving her TRANSPO bus route when she notice a <br />young girl wandering in the street. Cheryl immediately stopped her bus and took this young child, who was <br />crying, wet and cold onto the bus and called for assistance. Cheryl then provided her with warmth, a caring <br />attitude, kindness, and some food and drink while they awaited assistance from the South Bend Police <br />Department. <br />Section I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, publicly commends and honors <br />CHERYL MOORE for her heroic acts of rescuing a 6 -year old student who had wandered away from Monroe <br />Primary Center, and for providing prompt help and caring assistance when she rescued this little girl from what <br />could have been a tragic outcome. <br />Section II. The South Bend Common Council believes that special heroes like CHERYL MOORE, <br />was in the right place at the right time. Cheryl is commended for providing caring and immediate positive <br />action to ensure the safety on this young I" grade student, so that she cooaalld be reun' fely with her family. <br />This Resolution shall be in full force and <br />Mayor. <br />Jr., <br />Valerie Schey, 3'" District <br />Dr. Ere rlic, 4' District <br />C ad A.
