South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting -October 17, 2008 <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS (CONT.) <br />The three are the two Cooreman projects and the <br />Cleland project. <br />In spite of the economy tax abatements are helping our <br />local businesses to expand and to compete in both the <br />national and international markets and they are assisting <br />home owners move into new homes and add value to the <br />total housing stock of the City. <br />Pro,ects <br />Mr. Inks noted that the downtown sidewalks and <br />lighting project is moving along. The decorative <br />brickwork that had become difficult and expensive to <br />maintain has been replaced with concrete with a <br />pleasing pattern. <br />The addition to 101 N. Michigan Street is proceeding. <br />All the steel is up and some skin is going on. The city's <br />historic facade restoration to that building is also <br />moving along. <br />Eddy Street Commons: The garage is going up. They <br />have split the construction into to parts: east and west. <br />They are pouring concrete for the west side one story <br />above ground now. They have poured the foundations <br />of the first building along Eddy Street. They are close <br />to being on the construction schedule they set at the <br />beginning. <br />The Gates building is nearly demolished, also. <br />8.
